On Tuesday, General Motors showcased the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X “hypercar,” the new high-performance, hybrid car. Chevy Corvette ZR1X hybrid is marketed as the most advanced variant ever. Corvette ZR1X hybrid hypercar has a horsepower of about 1,250 and it has electrified all-wheel drive.

The Corvette hypercar ZR1X is the latest addition to the Corvette lineup is the souped-up version of 2023 E-Ray hybrid. It will be available as a convertible or coupe. The coupe includes a rear split window as an homage to the well-known 1963 Corvette.
2026 Corvette ZR1X specs
The new lineup of 2026 Corvette ZR1X features has similar performance outputs to General Motors current Corvette ZR1. It has the same twin-turbo V-8 engine though faster acceleration due to “electrification” technologies.
The Corvette hypercar ZR1X’s most important feature is its ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds and has a top speed of 233 mph. The Corvette ZR1X includes an electric axle that makes the vehicle all-wheel drive. It provides an additional 186 horsepower and 145 foot-pounds of torque.
Megan Dalley, Corvette marketing manager reported, “It is the most advanced Corvette we’ve ever produced. America’s true hypercar has arrived”. “We are putting the world on notice with this car, showing what Corvette and America’s true supercar is capable of.”

Hypercars, like the Corvette ZR1, surpass supercars, which in turn outclass traditional sports cars. This is based on superior performance metrics such as top speed, acceleration, and 0-60 mph times.

Chevy Corvette ZR1X hybrid speed
According to the company, the Corvette ZR1X’s top speed is 233 mph, with a 0-60 mph time of under two seconds. The Corvette ZR1X’s LT7 twin-turbo V-8 engine is rated at 1,064 horsepower and 828 foot-pounds of torque. Adding to the performance of the ZR1X is an electric axle that makes the vehicle all-wheel drive and gives it an additional 186 horsepower and 145 foot-pounds of torque.
Josh Holder, Corvette chief engineer said, “It brings performance, electrification and all-wheel drive to further enhance the unthinkable ZR1.” Adding, “It brings learnings from the ZR1 and the E-Ray, and combines them to create an unbelievable driving experience.”
Corvette ZR1X models
The ZR1X brings Corvette’s lineup to five different models. It’s part of General Motor’s plan for a highly profitable “Corvette family” that ranges from the “everyman’s sports car” Corvette Stingray, which starts around $70,000, to the ZR1 that can top $200,000.

GM said pricing for the Corvette ZR1X will be announced closer to after they reach dealerships later this year.

Though GM did confirm that an all-electric Corvette would be coming, but it’s unclear if the status of those plans has changed.
