Stellantis’s Jeep Cherokee revealed a hybrid SUV this Thursday. The fresh new design of Jeep Cherokee is a bid to increase sales after 6 consecutive years of sale decline. This will be Jeep’s first hybrid system, and the first for Stellantis in North America. The new 2026 Jeep Cherokee wants to evoke the iconic Cherokee luxury SUV brand.

Discontinued in 2023, as part of various cost-cutting measures. The Jeep Cherokee is back, larger and much improved, with an added touch of efficiency with the new hybrid powertrain that returns 37 mpg combined.

The redesign of Jeep Cherokee hybrid aims to balance rugged appeal with a more upscale feel, moving the nameplate into the competitive hybrid crossover segment.
The debut of Stellantis’ new Jeep with the 1.6-liter turbo-four hybrid powertrain, with more than 500 miles to a tank of fuel. As per the company, this SUV will boast a “technology-filled interior,” including Stellantis’ new Connect One services package. It will also have 30% more cargo capacity.
Jeep’s CEO Bob Broderdorf said in a statement, “The 2026 Jeep Cherokee is an incredibly capable and competitive midsize SUV that’s ready to reclaim our territory in North America’s largest vehicle segment”.

The new Cherokee has a rugged look and is based on Stellantis’s STLA Large platform, already in use under the Wagoneer S EV.
Compared to the old Cherokee, the 2026 model is 1.3 inches taller, 1.5 inches wider and five inches longer and rides on a 6.4-inch-longer wheelbase. That pays off in interior space, Jeep claiming its 34 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row is a 30 percent increase over the previous Cherokee. Fold the seats flat and there is 68 cubes, but rear-seat legroom is down by nearly two inches.

Every Cherokee also comes standard with Jeep’s Uconnect 5 system, a host of driver-assistance features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and Jeep’s new Connect One services package, which includes 10 years of OTA updates, SOS calls, and remote functions at no extra charge.
Higher trims add available luxuries like ventilated seats, a dual-pane sunroof, a premium audio system, and even a 360-degree camera.

Even with its focus on efficiency and comfort, the Cherokee hasn’t forgotten its roots. Standard 4×4 capability comes via Jeep’s Active Drive I system with Selec-Terrain drive modes for Auto, Sport, Snow, and Sand/Mud. Jeep claims best-in-class approach and departure angles, up to 8 inches of ground clearance, and plenty of trail-ready hardware.

The 2026 Jeep Cherokee lineup will include the base Cherokee, Laredo, Limited, and Overland trims.
Jeep Cherokee price
The entry-level 2026 SUV starts at $36,995 that will be inclusive of a $1,995 destination charge. The more upscale Limited and Overland versions will cost about $42,495 and $45,995, respectively.
2026 Jeep Cherokee release date
While the more upscale Limited and Overland versions will arrive first in late 2025. The entry-level Cherokee and Laredo will follow in early 2026. Production will take place at Stellantis’ Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico.
