The new cheaper Model Y Juniper of Tesla, a non-Launch Edition version in U.S. and Canada will now starts at $49,000 before incentives. In late January, when Tesla opened orders for the refreshed Model Y in North America and Europe, it was only for a special “Launch Edition” version of the Long Range AWD.

On Friday, Tesla officially launched the Long Range All-Wheel-Drive version of the new Model Y in the United States. Before the $7,500 federal tax credit, the configuration starts at $48,990.
As reported Tesla was ramping up production of non-Launch Edition configurations of the new Model Y at Gigafactory in Texas. Though the trim levels were available in other countries, U.S. was still waiting for more for more affordable options to become available.
As per Tesla, delivery of the affordable Model Y Juniper will start within the U.S. in 1 to 3 weeks. Same timeline for Canada, where it lists the new vehicle for $70,000 CAD.
New features Model Y
The Launch Series version of the new Model Y had 327 miles of range, a top speed of 125 MPH, and a 4.1-second 0-60 MPH acceleration rate. The Long Range All-Wheel-Drive trim of the new Model Y has almost similar features: it offers the same 327-mile range rating with the same top speed of 125 MPH. However, it has a 4.6-second 0-60 MPH acceleration rate.

Along with the new non-Launch Edition Model Y, Tesla is also introducing a new color, Diamond Black, on both Model Y and Model 3:

Tesla to ramp up production
Tesla reported lower-than-expected delivery figures for Q1 earlier this week, with the company stating that the shutdown of production lines to changeover to the new cheaper Model Y 2025 design impacted “several weeks” of manufacturing.
Now that the new Model Y has a more accessible configuration available and Tesla has already started ramping production, this could be a good sign of things to come for the company as Q2 kicks off.
Large inventories
High inventories for Tesla have been a problem as production outpaced deliveries by a margin of nearly 22,000 vehicles. This could be possibly due to units not hitting the delivery centers.
