On March 24, the FDA announced the Coca-Cola recall and reclassified it into Class II, the second-highest risk classification of food products. The manufacturer initiated the Coca-Cola recall on March 6. As of now, 864 12-packs of Coca-Cola cans have been recalled since the first week of March. The FDA’s “Class-II” recall indicates that the product can cause temporary or reversible health consequences in the consumer.

Inside the Coca-Cola Plastic Contamination Issue
The Coca-Cola distributor has recalled over 10,000 cans over a foreign-object contamination issue. U.S. Food and Drug Association has not reported any illness or health issues complaint but reclassified the recall as Class-II on March 24. A Class II recall happens when using or being exposed to a product could lead to temporary health issues, but the chances of serious harm are low.
As per FDA reports, Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling, LLC, in Milwaukee, has bottled and distributed the recalled cans. One of the Reyes’ spokespersons said, “The cases are being withdrawn because they did not meet our high-quality standards. We are taking this voluntary action because nothing is more important to us than providing high-quality products to the people who drink our beverages.”
How to Spot a Recalled Coca-Cola Can?
The recall has already been initiated on March 6, and there is very little chance that you might have the recalled can. Still, it’s important to be able to identify the recalled Coca-Cola cans. If you find one in your house, either throw it in the garbage or return it to the vendor and ask for a return.
Is This Coca-Cola’s First Recall?
Coca-Cola recalls don’t happen often, but they do occur. In January, the company recalled all versions of several drinks made in a Belgium plant because they had too much chlorate, affecting some European customers.
In December 2023, Coca-Cola recalled 2,000 cases of drinks over the risk of foreign objects. Most of the affected cases were Sprite, but Fanta and Diet Coke were also included.
