Tesla is recalling most Cybertrucks in the US because of trim detaching from the panel issues, which can cause severe road hazards. Tesla cybertruck recall will cover vehicles built from November 23 to February 27, 2025, which is about 46,000 vehicles. On March 20, the company announced the eighth recall for the model since its launch. Tesla filed a report with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claiming that only 1% of vehicles of the model were defective but it will call back all the SUVs to avoid any potential hazards.

The EV maker doesn’t provide separate delivery numbers for its cyber trucks but Analysts believe that the recalled vehicles make for the most cybertrucks on the road. Tesla has been not performing well since last year and this recall can be a huge setback for the company.
Tesla Cybertruck Recall: What’s the Issue?
Elon Musk’s Tesla is recalling the cyber trucks for the eighth time since its launch in November 2023, marking a huge setback for the company. Elon Musk’s Tesla is recalling the cars due to the risk of the stainless-steel trim panel falling off, which could create a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash. The company said it is not aware of any injuries or accidents because of the issue but has received 151 warranty claims that might be related to the recall issue.
As per company reports, the panel can create noise inside the vehicle, or drivers may witness the panel break off or lose the car altogether while driving.
What Does Tesla Drivers Need to Know?
Tesla has announced 46,000 cyber trucks recall for the detached panel issue. For Thursday’s recall, the company’s service center will replace the panel assembly with a new one that meets durability test requirements. The structural adhesive used by Tesla for joining the panel assembly is prone to environmental issues.
The new version will use a stronger adhesive, reinforced with a stud welded to the stainless panel and a nut that secures the panel to the vehicle. Tesla plans to start using the updated trim in production on Friday, and vehicles made before then but still with Tesla will be fixed before delivery. The NHTSA first alerted Tesla about a reported rail panel detachment on February 21.

Meanwhile, Musk addressed the “all hands” meeting in Austin on March 20. In the live streaming of the event, he didn’t mention the NHTSA recall but highlighted the Cybertruck’s “five-star safety rating.” Musk called it “very safe in a crash” and urged investors to keep their shares.
