Tesla has recalled its Cybertrucks over operational issues. A total of 27,185 Cybertrucks have been recalled, the fifth recall for Cybertrucks within a year.
The recall has been linked to a software issue related to the rear-view cameras. The rear-view camera display of the Cybertrucks remains blank for eight seconds after going in reverse while in the US, rear-view displays need to activate within two seconds of shifting into reverse. Tesla has filed this issue with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In the filing with the NHTSA, the company mentioned that the recalled vehicles were using a particular software logic designed for low-voltage hardware.
Cybertrucks has been recalled for the fifth time within a year of its release. The Cybertrucks ran on the road for the first time in November 2023 after which they have been recalled several times regarding hardware and software issues. This recall affects 27,185 Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and September 14, 2024. Tesla stated in a notice that a delayed rear-view image limits the driver’s visibility of what’s behind the vehicle, raising the risk of an accident.

Cybertruck Recall Issues
The cybertruck has been running on the roads since December. 2023 and they have been recalled five times within a year of release. In February 2024, Tesla recalled around 2.2 million Cybertrucks over the issue of letter font on their anti-brake warning light, which was too small to be read by drivers. The issue was resolved through a software update.
Again in April 2024, the Tesla trucks were recalled because of the issue with the accelerator paddle as many paddles stuck down when pressed. Later, the Cybertrucks were recalled over the issue of windshield wipers and a loose trim piece that could fall while driving. Additionally, many users complained of rusting of the truck body.
What’s Ahead for the Tesla Cybertrucks?
Since their launch, Tesla Cybertrucks have faced a few bumps in the road with operational issues. Additionally, the high prices have made it tough for many customers to consider them. The dual-motor version is around $100,000, while the base model starts at about $60,000. To make the Cybertruck more affordable, Tesla is planning to drop the price to around $50,000, which could help more people get behind the wheel.
Despite facing several challenges, Tesla experienced an increase in sales this week for the first time this year. However, overall sales still lag behind those from the same time last year. In the third quarter, the company delivered nearly 463,000 vehicles globally, marking a 6% increase from the previous year and a 4% rise compared to the total delivered in the second quarter of this year.
Customers can check if their vehicle has also received the notice through the recall search link shared by Tesla on their official website. Tesla has also posted a blog on their website to address the issue and to let customers know that they don’t need to book appointments for backup camera displays.
